How to Help
The Children Of Hogar
Alone. Destitute. Abandoned.
Parents without choices. Kids without parents. For many hard hitting reasons, children of Honduras often live without the love they need. This Spanish-speaking nation is haunted by rampant poverty, unemployment and the faces of hungry, homeless children. Life in picturesque Honduras may be far from picture perfect…but people like Carmen Beteta are painting a new world full of hope for Honduras.
At the age of 19, “Mama Carmen” then a pre-noviate, walked away from convent life with two frightened and abandoned girls who needed a home. Step by step, she established an orphanage with the help and generosity of friends and U.S. Air Force personnel. Word of mouth spread, and Carmen was soon single handedly caring for 17 children. She had answered Jesus’ call, and the groundwork for Hogar de Niños Nazareth was laid.

Hogar Means “Home”
Today, Hogar provides a joyful setting that allows children, from infants to teens, to flourish under the guidance of a dedicated staff. From sharing chores, to learning life skills, to getting an education, boys and girls are able to live, laugh and be loved-perhaps for the very first time. At Hogar, the children become a family, living and working together. They embrace the values that will enable them to grow into strong adults who will make a difference in their communities.
To countless children, life at Hogar is more than the basics of quality schooling, medical care, food, clothing and shelter. It means not being afraid. It means knowing Jesus and believing in Him. It means a better future. Life at Hogar is a life blessed many times over. Hogar means “Home,” but to the children living there, it means love.
How You Can Help
With love, all things are possible, and it is the love of Christ, shared between sponsor and niño that continues to provide great things for Hogar. All God’s Children brings people together who want to share their love and their time, talents or treasure with the children at Hogar de Niños Nazareth.
Sponsoring a child makes a lifetime of difference for someone in need. Because AGC volunteers work from the heart, there are no administrative fees taken out of your sponsorship donation. Every dollar goes directly to the care of each sponsored child. And every dollar is deeply needed. By Honduran law, children placed in any orphanage are non-adoptable and depend on the home throughout their entire childhood.
In Addition To Sponsorship, There Are Other Opportunities To Help Hogar:
  • AGC asks for prayers, for the children, Carmen and Hogar staff members.
  • Financial gifts of any size are also appreciated. Gifts may be designated for specific purpose or given toward the general budget.
  • Organizations and small groups can raise funds for a special intention, such as to provide birthday or Christmas gifts for the children.
  • Sponsorships of Hogar staff members are also welcome.
