Hope for the Next Step
As the original orphans at Hogar de Niños grew, Carmen and others foresaw another
urgent need. The orphans of Hogar would grow up and need help moving out into society.
Where could they live until they became independent? In 2000, supporters of Hogar
met in a vacant lot near the orphanage and prayed for God’s help and guidance. Very
little money was committed at the time and yet they moved forward in faith to purchase
the property. This vacant lot is now the site of transitional housing apartments
for Hogar’s children. The facilities of Casa Esperanza provide one answer to the
challenge of these adolescents achieving independence.
Newly opened and currently consisting of 12 units, it provides a place to call home
while finding employment and a more permanent place to live. While living here the
young men and women will still have access to the supervision and love they had
while living at Hogar, along with education and career assistance.
Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you
and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
